Every Bikram Sambat year has 12 months. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, the number of days in each BS month varies between 29 and 32, so the exact count changes from year to year.

विक्रम संवत् र ईस्वी संवत् — BS vs AD
The Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar has been the official civil calendar of Nepal since 1901. It was named after the legendary King Vikramaditya and is roughly 56.7 years ahead of the Gregorian (AD) calendar. For example, the Nepali year 2083 BS corresponds to 2026–2027 AD.
Because BS months are based on the solar sidereal cycle, they start around the 13th–14th of each Gregorian month. That means when a Nepali month begins, the equivalent English month has already started. This is why the two calendars never align perfectly — the BS new year (Baishakh 1) falls on April 13 or 14 every year.

What is a tithi in the Nepali calendar?
A tithi is a lunar day — the time it takes for the Moon to gain 12° on the Sun. There are 30 tithis in a lunar month, split into Shukla Paksha (waxing) and Krishna Paksha (waning). Each day cell on this calendar shows its tithi.
